Vermont Grade Expectations Focused On During Our Study of Insects

S1-2: Scientific Questioning, Predicting & Hypothesizing- Children observe, ask questions and make predictions regarding patterns about insects and their habitats.

S30: Structure and Function-Survival requirements- Children observe and discuss different physical features that they have that allow them to survive. Example; camouflage,crickets singing, etc.

S31:Life Cycle and Reproduction-Children learn about the life cycle of an insect. We are focusing on the complete metamorphosis. (egg-larvae-pupa-adult)

S38:Classification of Living Things- Children collect and observe a variety of insects in the field, garden and under trees using nets and collection containers. The children then sort and classify the insects using insect guides.
